Topsoil

Screened Topsoil
Our premium topsoil is screened to 5/8", with larger stones and sticks being removed. This allows a certain amount of small stones in the screened soil for body, but not enough to interfere with a comfortable lawn. The screening of our topsoil allows us to ensure that a loam-like consistency can be produced. Loam is a classification of soil based on its texture and the terms topsoil and loam are interchangeable. Our topsoil/loam ranges from a pH of 6.0 to 6.8, which is the natural range here in southern Connecticut. We do not offer a standard test since we obtain it from different locations and blend it together; therefore the exact same test result will not be produced each time. Topsoil is best used for landscaping, gardening and turfgrass needs. It is great for lawns, home gardens, athletics fields, vegetable gardening, planting beds and more. We have the quality topsoil product you need.
Our screened loam is highly desirable as a supplement for your landscaping as it contains higher organic matter content, a darker color, better tilth, and higher biological activity, such as earthworms, bacteria and fungi than in local subsoils. Building activity, clearing the property, and erosion all contribute to the need for high-quality topsoil to provide for a better growing medium. We have the right quality topsoil product for you.
Our Topsoil can be used in various applications; establishing new laws, flower beds or vegetable gardens, leveled landscapes. It can also be used to enhance existing soil conditions in raised beds or planters.
It provides numerous benefits like supporting plant growth. The nutrient-rich composition of topsoil promotes healthy root development, enabling plants to grow stronger and more resilient. Quality topsoil enhances the overall structure of your soil, improving its ability to retain water, resist erosion, and provide a stable foundation for plants. It is the home to numerous microorganisms and insects contributing to a thriving ecosystem, supporting decomposition and nutrient cycling processes, while promoting biodiversity.

Supersoil
SuperSoil is a 50/50 blend of our screened topsoil with compost - a perfect product for garden beds, both raised and in-ground. You can also use SuperSoil to top-dress your lawn, providing it with the nutrients that are missing to give you that lush, green grass.
Our Super Soil is a mix of two high-quality products to provide homeowners with a growing medium that will produce fast-growing plants. Our Super Soil is optimized by adding compost to native soil in a 50-50 blend. This blend of native topsoil and high-quality aged compost holds both nutrients and water so it is available in the root zone for plant growth.
This blended soil product is chosen by landscapers and gardeners who want to take advantage of the combination they get from the fertility of compost with the workability and structure of finely-screened topsoil. Super Soil is dark and rich in color and has been screened to less than 5/8″ particle size in a Trommel screen.
Super Soil is perfect for new lawn installations. When doing lawn top dressing, it is easy to cast with a shovel to create a seed bed for the grass seed. One of most popular applications of Super Soil is in building raised beds for flower and vegetable gardens so that the productivity of the vegetable plants is high. If you're going to put in the work to install raised beds, it only makes sense to put in the best possible growing medium since you will reap the benefits of it over time. Certainly, almost no one ever digs up a planting area to replace the soil.
An additional use for Super Soil would be backfilling when planting trees and shrubs. The new root growth expands out of the original root ball into this high-quality soil which will help them thrive over time. People love it for raised garden beds!
